Otter's Den, Hoedspruit is an ideal base from which to visit the Kruger Park, the nearby Reptile Park, the scenic Panorama Route with the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, the Cheetah Breeding Project and the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre.

Directions to Otters Den River Lodge

From Gauteng - By Car

Witbank Highway, after Witbank turn left to Belfast, then Dullstroom, Lydenburg, Ohrigstad (R36) and go towards Hoedspruit. 72km after Ohrigstad, or 15km before Hoedspruit (R527). turn right towards Orpen (R531), continue 400m and turn right into Otters Den Entrance.

From Nelspruit

Follow the R40 through White River, Hazyview, Bushbuckridge and pass Acornhoek. The R40 becomes the R531 (do not turn off towards Hoedspruit). 29km after the Hoedspruit turnoff, Otters Den is on the left.

From Hoedspruit

Take the R527 towards Lydenburg, but only 16km out of Town, turn left on the R531 towards Orpen. Continue 400m and turn right into Otters Den entrance. Take care, there is a turnoff 10km out of Town too, also marked Orpen. Skip this one.

Once you've turned into the Otters Den entrance, please follow the wooden signposts to the parking spot. From there you must please follow the footpath to the bridge and cross the river on foot to reach the lodge. If you arrive after dark, please hoot so you can be escorted in order to avoid the local Hippos.
